Agnes Obel

Agnes Obel recently signed exclusively to Deutsche Grammophon, Universal Music Group’s prestigious Yellow Label. The inspirational Dane has found a new musical home alongside DG’s leading contemporary composers and outstanding international artists such as Max Richter, Jóhann Jóhannsson and Anoushka Shankar. Two iconic labels join forces for the first time as the new partnership sees Obel's North American releases being handled by the renowned Blue Note team under the creative leadership of Blue Note President, Don Was.

In her songs and compositions, Agnes Obel creates her own timeless style, which places her uniquely beyond classification, her releases are milestones of music, both artistically and commercially. She is already a multi-platinum artist and in addition, her tracks having been streamed over 160 million times on Spotify alone. As well as composing, arranging and performing, Obel produces and mixes her own songs, allowing her to remain 100% true to her artistic intentions.

Agnes Obel's atmospheric songs and cinematic instrumental pieces have featured in critically acclaimed television productions, online TV series and films such as Big Little Lies, Greys Anatomy, The Royals, Pretty Little Liars, The Leftovers and Tin Star.

Fairhazel

Fairhazel has learnt a lot from the different cultures he grew up in. From the cobbled streets of Paris, the friendliness and openness of Cape Town to the introversion of London, what was apparent was that every city, every street and every person had a story to tell. To retell these stories through song is what Fairhazel set out to do. After being accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston, he experienced a whole new culture and with it experiences that would inspire a new sound, folk music drawing lyrical and melodic influence from jazz and psychedelic music while maintaining an acoustic raw sound.

A lot of the songs that Fairhazel writes usually come out of these odd experiences or a-ha moments, others being written in a sensory deprivation tank in East London, (Director’s Daughter), or building fictitious stories around the local 7/11 cashier (Eddie from 7/11), or based on the Tibetan Bardo Thodol text (7x7). He hopes people can connect with these stories in the same way they’d connect with a film, and get attached to characters and their journeys, be it through one or several songs.

Fairhazel is the moniker for the artist Hugh Macdonald who has been releasing music for several years under his own name, doing performances for TEDx, Ronnie Scott's and Sofar as well as countless gigs across the US and the UK
